As the nation reels under the effects of demonetisation, Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das on Wednesday announced a slew of measures to reduce the hardships being faced by the masses across the country. Addressing the media in the national capital, Das stated that 82,000 ATMs have been re-calibrated so far, adding that the rest of them will be re-calibrated within coming few days.
With an aim to mitigate farmers’ distress due to the demonetisation move, the Economic Affairs Secretary announced that the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned Rs 21,000 crore to the District Central Co-operative Banks (DCCBs). He further said that NABARD and Reserve Bank of India have been directed to ensure that there is adequate cash supply available to the DCCBs.
